Our Story
Growing up in the vibrant, multicultural community of South Florida, Jeanelle—affectionately known as Ms. J—was immersed in the richness of global cultures from an early age. Traveling frequently with her siblings as a child, she developed a deep appreciation for the transformative power of travel. As she got older, she realized that many children and families never get that opportunity.
Global Trekkers was born from this awareness and a desire to change it. Our mission is to make international travel accessible, educational, and empowering for students from all backgrounds—especially those from underserved communities. We believe that seeing the world changes how you see yourself—and your place in it.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide minority middle and high school students with the opportunity to travel internationally and gain new cultural experiences. We believe that these experiences can help students
develop a global perspective, build cross-cultural understanding, and become more engaged citizens.
Our Model
Global Competence
What is Global Competence?
Global competence is a framework that incorporates key aspects of K-12 education, including STEM, social-emotional learning (SEL), diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ), project-based learning (PBL), civics, and career and technical education (CTE).
By developing these skills, students become engaged citizens, lifelong learners, creative problem solvers, effective communicators across cultures, and individuals who are adaptable and open to change.
Global Trekkers
KSA Trailblazers
KSA Trailblazers began as a school club in 2015, facilitating annual international travel for 15 to 30 students. Ms. J, who traveled to China with the club in 2019, took over leadership in 2020 and has since led 5 successful tours with over 80 student travelers.
On March 17, 2023, KSA Trailblazers officially transitioned to a non-profit organization and was renamed Global Trekkers.
Our Vision
Global Trekkers envisions a world where all minority middle and high school students have the opportunity to travel abroad. We aim to provide these students with a global perspective, an understanding of different cultures, and the tools to become engaged citizens.
